16 февраля в Санкт-Петербурге прошли основные торжества в честь Всемирного дня православной молодежи. Он традиционно отмечается в некоторых странах 15 февраля в церковный праздник Сретения Господня. Идея празднования дня православной молодежи принадлежит Всемирному Православному Молодежному Движению — «Синдесмос». Представители православной молодежи во всем мире стараются ежегодно отмечать этот день с учетом национальных особенностей каждой страны. С 2002 года этот праздник получает распространение и в пределах Русской Православной Церкви.

После Божественной литургии в Андреевском соборе на Васильевском острове в районном Доме молодежи прошли ярмарка православных молодежных организаций и встреча с епископом Кронштадтским Вениамином на тему «Как молодежь может послужить Богу и ближнему». Владыка ответил на множество вопросов и познакомился со стендами молодежных объединений епархии.
