Судно ушло под воду 23 июня примерно в 770 км от суши на глубину около 5 тыс. м, уточнил менеджер судна компании Zodiac Maritime. Это произошло из-за повреждений после пожара, которые усугубились из-за неблагоприятных погодных условий. По словам источников, знакомых с ситуацией, судно перевозило автомобили ряда производителей, включая Chery Automobile Co. и Great Wall Motor Co.
Грузовое судно Morning Midas вышло из Китая 26 мая и направлялось в Мексику. Среди 3 тыс. машин были также 800 электромобилей, возгорание началось на палубе с ними 3 июня. Тогда корабль находился неподалеку от побережья Аляски. Тушение литийионных аккумуляторов, используемых в таких транспортных средствах, было осложнено. Для ликвидации пожара задействовали буксир. На борту находились 22 члена экипажа, их эвакуировали.
Morning Midas было построено в 2006 году китайской компанией Xiamen Shipbuilding и ходило под флагом Либерии.

"He has to start being more proactive and to find a real solution to this situation, not stay in standby without interfering. It's a very irresponsible position from the owner of Telegram," she said.
