Tomorrow marks 135 years since the birth of Michel Dufet, a very influential but lesser-known French pre-modernist who made a name for himself as an artist, architect, stage designer, decorator, product designer, and, being married to Rhodia Bourdelle, director of the Bourdelle Museum.

In 1929, Dufet was already a renowned designer of interiors (including for the SS Normandie) and furnishings that exemplified the aesthetics of Art Deco and, yet, showcased Dufet’s affinity for stark functionality and mass-production, when he came up with a “machine for writing on”, a writing desk made entirely of polished zinc, in response to a commission from Asturian Mining Company that wished to promote the potential of zinc. The following year saw Dufet create, after the likeness of the writing desk, a futuristic “machine for dressing at”, a vanity table made of zinc whose sternness was softened by the addition of Karelian birch and parchment.

On February 27th, Durov posted that Channels were becoming a source of unverified information and that the company lacks the ability to check on their veracity. He urged users to be mistrustful of the things shared on Channels, and initially threatened to block the feature in the countries involved for the length of the war, saying that he didn’t want Telegram to be used to aggravate conflict or incite ethnic hatred. He did, however, walk back this plan when it became clear that they had also become a vital communications tool for Ukrainian officials and citizens to help coordinate their resistance and evacuations. He said that since his platform does not have the capacity to check all channels, it may restrict some in Russia and Ukraine "for the duration of the conflict," but then reversed course hours later after many users complained that Telegram was an important source of information. "There are a lot of things that Telegram could have been doing this whole time. And they know exactly what they are and they've chosen not to do them. That's why I don't trust them," she said. A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. These administrators had built substantial positions in these scrips prior to the circulation of recommendations and offloaded their positions subsequent to rise in price of these scrips, making significant profits at the expense of unsuspecting investors, Sebi noted.
