🪭 ایرانیان باستان با این اعتقاد که سپیده‌دم شب یلدا با دمیدن خورشید، روزها طولانی‌تر میشوند و تابش نور ایزدی جهان را فرا می‌گیرد، آخرین شب پاییز و اول زمستان را شب زایش الهه مهر (میترا) یا زایش خورشید نامیدند و از آن زمان تاکنون، برای آن جشن بزرگی برپا می‌شود.
