Oh no. There’s a certain degree of myth-making around what exactly went on, so take everything that follows lightly. So, uh, whenever I hear about Telegram, it’s always in relation to something bad. What gives? Russians and Ukrainians are both prolific users of Telegram. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Telegram has remained an important lifeline for both Russians and Ukrainians, as a way of staying aware of the latest news and keeping in touch with loved ones. Artem Kliuchnikov and his family fled Ukraine just days before the Russian invasion. Such instructions could actually endanger people — citizens receive air strike warnings via smartphone alerts.
