Карманов – автор произведений для камерных ансамблей различных составов, для голоса в сопровождении инструментального ансамбля, хоровых и симфонических сочинений. В 2016 году создал новую редакцию оперы "Князь Игорь" для постановки Юрия Любимова в Большом театре.
Карманов – автор музыки к фильмам "Большой" Тодоровского, "Солдатский декамерон" Прошкина, "Арена" ("Гладиатрикс") Бекмамбетова и другим картинам.
