«ومَن أخرج التَّعيير وأظهر السوء وأشاعه في قالبِ النُّصح وزعم أنه إنَّما يحمله على ذلك العيوب -إما عامًّا أو خاصًا- وكان في الباطن إنما غرضه التعيير والأذى، فهو من إخوان المنافقين الذين ذمَّهم الله في كتابه، في مواضعَ، فإنَّ الله تعالى ذَّم من أظهر فعلاً أو قولاً حسنًا وأراد به التوصُّل إِلَى غَرَض فاسدٍ يقصده في الباطن، وعدَّ ذلك من خصال النفاق .. ومثالُ ذلك: أن يريد الإنسانُ ذمَّ رجلٍ وتنقُّصه وإظهارَ عيبهِ لينفرَّ الناس عنه؛ إما محبة لإيذائه لعدواته أو مخافته من مزاحمته على مالٍ أو رياسةٍ أو غير ذلك من الأسباب المذمومة، فلا يتوصَّل إِلَى ذلك إلا بإظهار الطعن فيه بسبب ديني».

The account, "War on Fakes," was created on February 24, the same day Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" and troops began invading Ukraine. The page is rife with disinformation, according to The Atlantic Council's Digital Forensic Research Lab, which studies digital extremism and published a report examining the channel. Pavel Durov, a billionaire who embraces an all-black wardrobe and is often compared to the character Neo from "the Matrix," funds Telegram through his personal wealth and debt financing. And despite being one of the world's most popular tech companies, Telegram reportedly has only about 30 employees who defer to Durov for most major decisions about the platform. This provided opportunity to their linked entities to offload their shares at higher prices and make significant profits at the cost of unsuspecting retail investors. In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation." The War on Fakes channel has repeatedly attempted to push conspiracies that footage from Ukraine is somehow being falsified. One post on the channel from February 24 claimed without evidence that a widely viewed photo of a Ukrainian woman injured in an airstrike in the city of Chuhuiv was doctored and that the woman was seen in a different photo days later without injuries. The post, which has over 600,000 views, also baselessly claimed that the woman's blood was actually makeup or grape juice.
