Um den Kreis der Menschen mit Asylanspruch in Deutschland zu vergrößern, solle Asyl auch jenen gewährt werden, „die vor den Folgen des Klimawandels flüchten“.
Van Aken erklärte weiter: „Nach dem russischen Überfall auf die Ukraine sind mehr als eine Million Kriegsflüchtlinge zu uns gekommen. Das ist eine völlig überschaubare Zahl.“
