The Kurdistan Islamic Union (KIU) has met with Turkish officials for the third time this year, marking the second such meeting since June. The party’s leader, Salahhaddin Bahhadin, held discussions with Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister in Ankara.

The KIU is the largest Islamic party in Kurdistan, rooted in the Muslim Brotherhood tradition. It currently holds seven seats in the Kurdistan Parliament and four in the Iraqi Parliament.

Despite its relatively modest representation, the KIU’s seven seats in the Kurdistan Parliament carry strategic weight, as no single party has secured a majority. This positions the KIU as a potential kingmaker or a divisive force in shaping the dynamics between the KDP and PUK within the Kurdistan Region's parliament.

Overall, extreme levels of fear in the market seems to have morphed into something more resembling concern. For example, the Cboe Volatility Index fell from its 2022 peak of 36, which it hit Monday, to around 30 on Friday, a sign of easing tensions. Meanwhile, while the price of WTI crude oil slipped from Sunday’s multiyear high $130 of barrel to $109 a pop. Markets have been expecting heavy restrictions on Russian oil, some of which the U.S. has already imposed, and that would reduce the global supply and bring about even more burdensome inflation. "Markets were cheering this economic recovery and return to strong economic growth, but the cheers will turn to tears if the inflation outbreak pushes businesses and consumers to the brink of recession," he added. In the past, it was noticed that through bulk SMSes, investors were induced to invest in or purchase the stocks of certain listed companies. Soloviev also promoted the channel in a post he shared on his own Telegram, which has 580,000 followers. The post recommended his viewers subscribe to "War on Fakes" in a time of fake news. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 230 points, or 0.7%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.3% and 2.2%, respectively. All three indexes began the day with gains before selling off.
