❗️An Australian online trader of Russian intelligence documents stolen from the battlefield in Ukraine will return all the documents for further forwarding to Moscow through the Russian diplomatic mission.

This was stated today, February 23, by social activist from Sydney Simeon Boikov.

Our compatriot Simeon Boikov managed to contact the merchant and invite him to live radio broadcast.

The 18-year-old from Geelong, southern Australia, is Noah Tassalini, an ethnic Italian. In his words, he is an orphan, raised in Australia in a foster family, which he left a year ago.

According to Boikov, during the conversation they managed to convince the young man that selling documents literally soaked in the blood of Russian soldiers was wrong.

“I convinced him that it was a very dangerous profession to sell documents of Russian soldiers.” Especially personal documents of intelligence officers.

He explained that his interest was purely commercial, but he seemed to understand everything and was ready to hand over everything he had to the Russian embassy in the near future.

Moreover, he promised that he would contact those to whom he had already sold documents and trophies, and this is about 40 transactions, buy them back and transfer them to Russia.”

In a message on his Telegram channel recently recounting the episode, Durov wrote: "I lost my company and my home, but would do it again – without hesitation." Oh no. There’s a certain degree of myth-making around what exactly went on, so take everything that follows lightly. Telegram was originally launched as a side project by the Durov brothers, with Nikolai handling the coding and Pavel as CEO, while both were at VK. Andrey, a Russian entrepreneur living in Brazil who, fearing retaliation, asked that NPR not use his last name, said Telegram has become one of the few places Russians can access independent news about the war. Telegram was co-founded by Pavel and Nikolai Durov, the brothers who had previously created VKontakte. VK is Russia’s equivalent of Facebook, a social network used for public and private messaging, audio and video sharing as well as online gaming. In January, SimpleWeb reported that VK was Russia’s fourth most-visited website, after Yandex, YouTube and Google’s Russian-language homepage. In 2016, Forbes’ Michael Solomon described Pavel Durov (pictured, below) as the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia.” Given the pro-privacy stance of the platform, it’s taken as a given that it’ll be used for a number of reasons, not all of them good. And Telegram has been attached to a fair few scandals related to terrorism, sexual exploitation and crime. Back in 2015, Vox described Telegram as “ISIS’ app of choice,” saying that the platform’s real use is the ability to use channels to distribute material to large groups at once. Telegram has acted to remove public channels affiliated with terrorism, but Pavel Durov reiterated that he had no business snooping on private conversations.
