سال ۱۳۸۶، در آستانه ۵ اسفندماه، جشن اسفندگان، روز زن ایرانی، به عنوان مسئول بخش جشن‌های ملی در بنیاد بین‌المللی میراث پاسارگاد، برآن شدم تا گفت‌وگویی با پنج زن فرهیخته ایرانی داشته باشم.

مجموعه این مصاحبه‌ها که به صورت نوشتاری انجام شد، زیر عنوان «پنج زن از نگاه پنج زن، گفت‌و‌گویی با پنج زن کوشنده معاصر ایران» ابتدا در تارنمای بنیاد پاسارگاد و سپاس در تارنگار خودم «ایران نامه» منتشر شد.

پنج بانو که با آنها مصاحبه شد، عبارت بودند از: سیمین بهبهانی، توران شهریاری، پوران فرخ‌زاد، گیتی پورفاضل و شکوه میرزادگی.

زنده‌یاد سیمین بهبهانی، با گشاده‌رویی همیشگی و با وجود ضعف بینایی که نگارش را برایشان دشوار کرده بود، پاسخ پرسش‌های مرا با ماژیک و‌ خط درشت، روی کاغذ A4 نوشتند و در ۸ برگ برایم فکس کردند.

Telegram has gained a reputation as the “secure” communications app in the post-Soviet states, but whenever you make choices about your digital security, it’s important to start by asking yourself, “What exactly am I securing? And who am I securing it from?” These questions should inform your decisions about whether you are using the right tool or platform for your digital security needs. Telegram is certainly not the most secure messaging app on the market right now. Its security model requires users to place a great deal of trust in Telegram’s ability to protect user data. For some users, this may be good enough for now. For others, it may be wiser to move to a different platform for certain kinds of high-risk communications. Perpetrators of these scams will create a public group on Telegram to promote these investment packages that are usually accompanied by fake testimonies and sometimes advertised as being Shariah-compliant. Interested investors will be asked to directly message the representatives to begin investing in the various investment packages offered. Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. On December 23rd, 2020, Pavel Durov posted to his channel that the company would need to start generating revenue. In early 2021, he added that any advertising on the platform would not use user data for targeting, and that it would be focused on “large one-to-many channels.” He pledged that ads would be “non-intrusive” and that most users would simply not notice any change.
