City workers were still present on the pier when the 150-foot segment detached and began floating away following a large swell with waves reaching up to 25 feet.
Two workers were rescued by lifeguards, while one managed to swim to shore. Two of the workers were hospitalized with injuries.
The National Weather Service Bay Area has urged residents to avoid the ocean, warning that waves could reach heights of up to 60 feet. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.

At its heart, Telegram is little more than a messaging app like WhatsApp or Signal. In 2016, Forbes’ Michael Solomon described Pavel Durov (pictured, below) as the “Mark Zuckerberg of Russia.” Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that there were "certain positive developments" occurring in the talks with Ukraine, according to a transcript of their meeting. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis." "This time we received the coordinates of enemy vehicles marked 'V' in Kyiv region," it added. The regulator said it has been undertaking several campaigns to educate the investors to be vigilant while taking investment decisions based on stock tips.
