После 2004 года процесс расширения идет сложно, долго и без особого желания большинства стран-членов ЕС. В первую очередь потому что это не очень выгодно. Расходы на новые страны больше, чем прибыль от них.
Поэтому ЕС продолжает давать подачки, большая часть из которых направлена на «развитие гражданского общества», «свободу СМИ» и прочую туфту, где проще пилить бюджеты.
Просто напомню, что Сербия является кандидатом с 2012-го; Албания — с 2014-го; Черногория — с 2010-го; Северная Македония — с 2005-го; Турция — с 1999-го.
Популярность ЕС падает из-за постоянного шантажа, угроз, новых условий для вступления и тд. И пока некоторые политики слепо верят в «светлое будущее в ЕС», большинство (как и народ), уже смотрят в сторону БРИКС. В расширение к 2030 году веры все меньше даже у самых ярых оптимистов.
